Meet Our Physio Team: Alisa ‘Sandy’ Burchardt

One of the founding physios of Physio Bangkok, Sandy has long been a firm believer in using accurate posture and looking at the root cause rather than solving the discomfort.

Educated and graduated from one of the leading institutions in Thailand, Sandy is one of the few movement specialists who are able to transition clients from wellness to fitness effortlessly.

A certified NASM personal trainer, it is this unique yet complementary qualification that is making Sandy a more than all-around kinesthetic expert.

What was the main reason why you wanted to become a physio?

My aim always revolves around helping people develop healthy habits and practices that promote mobility, flexibility, and overall wellness. My approach to promoting healthy movement involves a comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s physical abilities, limitations, and goals.

Why do you believe everyone needs to have a physio to stay healthy?

Human beings require physical movement to maintain their health, but improper or excessive movement can lead to injury. Therefore, it is crucial for every individual at every stage of life to have access to physiotherapy to ensure their overall well-being.

What is the biggest misconception / myth out in the world about the physiotherapy world?

The idea that cracking your neck is a treatment for any medical condition is a myth and a misconception.

Cracking your neck is not an effective or recommended treatment for any medical condition. While cracking your neck may provide temporary relief or a feeling of release, it can actually be potentially harmful and cause injury.

For you personally, what makes Physio Bangkok stand out from the crowd?

It is one of the very few, if not the only, physiotherapy studio in Bangkok that really approaches individuals as clients rather than patients and focuses on empowering them to achieve their fitness goals.

From your experience as a physio, what is the biggest struggle for clients these days?

As a physio, I completely understand that you are looking for quick pain relief and prefer not to undergo surgery. There are several alternatives to surgery that can help alleviate pain depending on the cause and severity of your condition.

Physiotherapists often are seen as a last resort, however, we can be the solution without even thinking about surgery.

A fun physio fact about you

If you ever need a shoulder to lean on, just remember that I’m here for you. I got your back!
